31 August from 2–6 pm: Afternoon Open Day

On 31 August, from 2 to 6 pm, the Museum Gherdëina will open its doors for a special occasion. The occasion is the finissage of the sculpture exhibition. The admission will be free and the museum team will personally welcome visitors and offer exclusive guided tours of the collection, which from 1 September will be temporarily accessible only in virtual form.

Visit the Museum Gherdëina virtually

From 1 September to 6 December 2025, the Museum Gherdëina will be closed for the installation of an entirely new exhibition. But that certainly doesn’t mean missing out on a visit, because in the meantime, the Museum Gherdëina can also be explored virtually.
Just like in a “real” visit, you can discover the Museum Gherdëina at your own pace on the virtual tour and examine in detail the exhibits from the fields of geology and mineralogy, flora and fauna, archaeology, and traditional craftsmanship. The link to the virtual tour will be available from 1 September.

New Exhibition "Dal lën al juech“

The closure in September, October and November is intended as a kind of preview of the new Museum Gherdëina. During this time, a new exhibition on the development of Val Gardena wooden toys will be set up. At its heart is the collection of around 8,000 toy prototypes, along with preparatory drawings, which the company Sevi has donated to the Museum Gherdëina. At the same time, the long-standing sculpture collection will be dismantled, making way for a completely new presentation of selected masterpieces of woodcarving spanning four centuries, which will be on display from 2026 on the second floor.

Themed tours, Autumn 2025

During the months of closure, the themed tours with a guide offered as part of Val Gardena Active will continue to be available. First and foremost the historical walk through Ortisei and the hike to the oldest surviving farmhouses in San Giacomo.
Registration for these is possible here.
