"Wooden Playthings": Craft, Design and the Global Market

SEVI toys from Val Gardena (1831–1998)

The new special exhibition at Museum Gherdëina tells the fascinating story of the historic toy company Sevi. Over five generations, Sevi shaped the lives of many families in Val Gardena, from 19th-century home-based craftwork to modern toy production with international success.
On display are creatively designed originals, selected from the collection of over 8,000 pattern pieces, alongside insights into the working life of the past and the creative minds behind Sevi’s unmistakable designs.

Interactive & creative:
With its workshop-like character, the exhibition invites visitors of all ages to try things out, build and play. Families, school groups and holiday guests can explore together how a piece of wood becomes a piece of creativity.
